Limited to 2 students only:

Japanese Language and Cultural Tutor Lessons

for expats in Central Tokyo!

The co-partner of Acima Corporation is personally providing  Japanese language and cultural tutor lessons for expats living or soon to be living in Central Tokyo!

Dear my future students,

Hajimemashite! (means nice to meet you in Japanese and it writes はじめまして.)

Hi. I'm Amika, co-partner of Acima Corporation and I'll be your Japanese language and cultural tutor!

Why?

Because, I've always enjoyed teaching languages!

The very first teaching experience that I had was when I was 18 years old, I was asked to teach my little brother's friends basic English to prep them for their Soccer Camp in Australia.

I had just graduated from a Stoneleigh-Burnham School (All-girls boarding school in Western Massachusetts) at that time and was back in Japan for a summer break, before going to Boston for attending UMass Boston. After graduating from college in 2000, I came back to Japan and joined a listed IT company and later worked for a couple of multinational companies, but I took every chance I got to teach English or Japanese to those who're interested on my spare time.

Acima Corporation was founded in 2007 (by me!) and I've literally spent most of my time building businesses for the last decade, and Suzuki Translations is one of them which in fact, is the business actualization of my love for words and languages! And recently, more people are talking about work-life balance, and I cannot agree more to having an achievement of harmony between your professional and personal life is the key to a happier and healthier life. Hence, I've decided to pursue my passion for helping people by utilizing my own skills and experiences as a fellow language enthusiast for their lessons.

You might be thinking, "Hmm... If this person was educated in the U.S., how good would her Japanese be? Can she really teach?"

Rest assured! I had finished my compulsory education in Japan (up to 15 years of age) before my parents sent me to the U.S. for studying. Also, right after graduating from college, I joined a SUPER domestic company back in Japan where I was forced to not only develop my business Japanese language skills, but also to acquire the knowledge of the VERY unique Japanese business manners and "normal" business practice to survive in the Japanese business society.

Yes, unlike many of the "Japanese tutors" that you can find online and in Tokyo, I have years of experience in working in both domestic and multinational corporations, which I can utilize it in your Japanese language and cultural studies by sharing my stories. (I can share all my "do's and don'ts" learnt from my own mistakes!)

Here's a little more about myself:

Native language: Japanese

Second Language: English

Born in Japan

Gender: Female

Marital Status: Married

My hobbies are: Wine and dine, reading books, watching movies, listening to music, meeting people, traveling and learning about cultures and histories of other countries, and of course learning languages and much more!!

I can teach onsite (Minato, Chuo, Chiyoda, Shibuya, Meguro, Shinjuku, and Setagaya ward in Tokyo only) or online.

I can come up with the teaching materials based on your current skills which I'm hoping to assess at the interview, or if you already have something you want to work on, that would be great too!
